Job Overview: Registered Respiratory Therapist

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts
Facility: Spaulding Hospital, part of Mass General Brigham
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 12 months

Required Credentials and Certifications

1. BLS (Basic Life Support)

   • Required for onboarding.
   • Accepted from AHA, Red Cross, CHSF, or Military.

2. ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

   • Optional but preferred.

3. License/Certificate Verification

   • Primary source verification of professional license and/or certification required within 30 days of start date.

4. Fit Test

   • N95 fit test required within 365 days prior to start date and updated annually.

5. MGB Nurse Aide Registry Check

   • Required by MA DPH for all employees within 30 days of start.

6. COVID-19 Vaccine

   • Completed primary vaccination series required; no exemptions considered.

7. MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)

   • Documentation of vaccinations or proof of immunity required.

8. Hepatitis B

   • Strongly preferred: record of vaccinations or proof of immunity.

9. Influenza Vaccine

   • Required during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30); no exemptions considered.

10. TB Test

    • Documentation of TB skin test or negative QuantiFERON TB Test required within 3 months of start date.

11. Health Statement

    • Physician statement required within 365 days of start date.

12. Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis)

    • Vaccine within 10 years preferred.

13. MGB Criminal Background Check

    • Required within 45 days prior to start date.

14. MGB Massachusetts CORI

    • Criminal history check required within 30 days prior to start date.

15. MGB Resume

    • Required for submission, including past 7 years of work experience.

16. MGB References

    • Minimum of 2 recent references, including at least 1 supervisor.

17. MGB Skills Checklist

    • Required for submission.

18. MGB Confirmation of Assignment/POI Form

    • Required for all initial assignments and extensions.

19. Positive PPD - Negative Chest X-Ray

    • Required if positive on a TB skin test.

20. MGB Education Verification

    • Verification of highest level of education achieved required.

21. MGB SSN Trace

    • Required to list addresses/aliases for the past 7 years.

22. MGB National Sex Offender Check

    • Required within 30 days of start and updated annually.

23. MGB Exclusion Checks

    • Required to search OIG, GSA, and MassHealth & NH Medicaid exclusion lists.

24. MGB TB Symptom Survey (if Positive PPD)

    • Required to determine no symptoms suggestive of TB infection.

25. MGB Submission Checklist

    • Required for submission.
