Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Tech
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Facility: MedStar Georgetown University Hospital (MedStar Health System)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: June 16 or June 30
Shift: 5x8 Day shift (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM)
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience required
- Preferably 1 year hospital-based experience
- Must have completed at least 1 prior travel assignment
- Certifications required (one of the following):
- ARRT N
- NMTCB
- CNMT
- ASCP
- BLS (Basic Life Support, AHA or ARC)
- Skills required with equipment and procedures:
- GE, Hitachi, Phillips, Siemens, Toshiba
- HIDA Scan, Bone Scan, Lung Scan, Thyroid Studies
- Professional knowledge and skills:
- Start and maintain Peripheral IV
- Isolation Precautions
- Handling, storing, and disposal of radioactive materials
- Basic knowledge of nuclear medicine theory and techniques
- Radiation safety practices
- Knowledge of specialized and complex Molecular Imaging procedures
- Ability to work under stressful and emergent situations
- Effective communication skills

Required Documentation & Compliance
- I9 and E-Verify attestation
- Valid State License prior to start
- Background Check within 90 days (including criminal, SSN trace, and relevant state/county searches)
- Drug Screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
- Physical Exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- Immunizations and health requirements:
- COVID-19 Vaccination (medical/religious exemptions require approval)
- Flu Vaccination (seasonal, required for travelers starting after 10/7/24)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (recommended for certain positions)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
- N95 Fit Mask test within 9 months of start (updated annually)
- Annual HIPAA Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- Completion of facility-specific modules (Sitels) prior to start
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience in the last 3 years
- Employment application with 7 years of work history, education, license, and contact information
Additional Certifications (as applicable)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) for RN/LPNs in ED or Pediatrics
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) as required by unit
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) as required by unit
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) for Labor & Delivery candidates
- Tech Certification Verification (national) based on profession/state
Competency Exams
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required within 3 years, passing score 80%)
- Color Blind Testing (online or in-person)
- General Competency Exam (required within 3 years, passing score 80%)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (for applicable nursing units)
