Job Opportunity: Radiology / Cardiology Travel/Contract Position

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Facility: IU Health Methodist Hospital
Hospital System: IU Health - Medefis


Position Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (5x8s)

Certification Requirements

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only, RQI acceptable
  • ARRT Certification required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only, RQI acceptable
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only, RQI acceptable
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - AHA only
  • CHEMO (Chemotherapy) - as required per cost center
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - as required
  • NIH Stroke Certification - as required
  • HIPAA Safety Manual Acknowledgement
  • State License Verification (Indiana) within 30 days of start
  • Tech Certification Verification (as applicable, must be run within 30 days of start)

Experience & Skills Required

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
  • Proficient in imaging extremities, abdomen/GI, spine/pelvis, chest/thorax
  • Experience in ER, OR, Level 1 Trauma, Surgery/C-Arm
  • Familiarity with GE & Siemens equipment

Unit & Facility Information

  • Level 1 Trauma Center
  • Supports over 30 Operating Rooms (ORs)
  • 6 Intensive Care Units (ICUs)
  • 70+ bed Emergency Room (ER)
  • Approximately 700 inpatient beds

Call-In Policy

  • If a traveler calls in for a contracted shift:
    • 0.9 FTE: Must make up the day during the pay period or add the shift at the end of the contract
    • 1.2 FTE: Call-in shifts added to the end of the contract

Required Competencies & Exams

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (not required for Techs or RRTs)
  • Color Blind Testing (Ishihara exam or equivalent, minimum 100% score)
  • Unit Competency Exam

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Professional photo for badge (head and shoulders, plain light background)
  • Completion of IU Health Look of Assurance packet prior to start
  • Completion of IU Health Compliance Checklist and Confidentiality Agreement (time sensitive)
  • Completion of IU Health Traveler Personal Profile and Policy Information forms (time sensitive)
  • Completion of Self Study Orientation & Test (for specific IU Health facilities)
  • Completion of Fast Track Slide Packet and Signature Forms (for specific IU Health facilities)
  • Mandatory RRT Modules (for RRT candidates only) - 22 modules must be completed before orientation

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical Exam within 12 months of start date
  • Fit Mask Test within 12 months (specific respirators approved)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (strongly recommended)
  • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 1 year
  • TB Questionnaire (updated annually)
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
  • Hepatitis B: Series, titer, or signed declination required
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
  • Negative 10 Panel Drug Screen within 12 months
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required for 2024-25 season
  • Color Blind Exam (Ishihara or equivalent)

Background & Employment History

  • Background Check within 90 days of start (7-year history, includes SSN trace, criminal, sex offender, FACIS Level III, education verification)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM checks within 30 days of start
  • Minimum 2 professional references from recent employment (verified within 2 years)
  • Current Employment Application with full work history and explanations for gaps over 30 days
  • Skills Checklist within 12 months, updated annually
  • Official Transcript or Diploma (clear copy) required; may be pending at start
  • Education Verification by 3rd party; may be pending at start
  • Application must cover 7 years with all gaps accounted for

This position offers the opportunity to work in a high-acuity, Level 1 trauma center with a diverse patient population and advanced imaging technology. Candidates must meet strict certification, competency, and health requirements to ensure compliance and patient safety.
