Shift Details

  • Schedule: 4x 12-hour night shifts (1830-0700)
  • On Call/Weekend: Every other weekend; holidays as needed; no on-call required
  • Float Requirement: Between Adult and NICU; between floors

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience including Trauma, ER, and Adult ICU
  • Experience with Puritan Bennett, Draeger, Servo I, EvitaXL, Viasys preferred
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) required (AHA or ARC)
    • DC RRT State License required
    • CRT or RRT required
    • ACLS preferred
  • Accepts first-time travelers (screening required)

Certifications & Competencies

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – Required for RN/LPNs in ED or Pediatrics; not required for this role
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – As required by unit
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – As required by unit
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – As required by unit
  • Tech Cert Verification – Required based on profession/state
  • HIPAA Safety Manual Acknowledgement – Required annually
  • State License Verification – Required prior to start
  • NIH Stroke Certification – Required based on unit
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam – Must score 80% or higher within 3 years of start
  • Color Blind Testing – Required (online or in-person)
  • Competency Exams – Must score 80% or higher within 3 years of start
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam – Required for ICU, ED, Telemetry (RN only) within 3 years, passing score 80%

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
  • N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite)
  • Immunizations/Vaccinations required:
    • Flu vaccine (mandatory for all employees)
    • COVID-19 vaccine (full vaccination required; exemptions are rare and strictly reviewed)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (recommended for exposure to children/infants)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within last year, updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B – Titer, series, or signed declination
    • Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer
  • Drug Screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), updated annually
  • Background Check within 90 days of start including multiple state and federal checks
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to start and monthly thereafter

Documentation & Compliance

  • I9 and E-Verify attestation required upon hire
  • Valid Driver’s License if driving is an essential job function
  • Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience in the last 3 years
  • Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license verification
  • Skills checklist and competency exams updated annually
  • Facility-specific modules (SITELS) must be completed before hire date
  • Photo for badge required (clear, well-lit, no filters, face centered)
  • Drug screen and background check attestations completed by credentialing staff
