Description

Job Opportunity: MRI Technologist

Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
Location: Roanoke, Virginia
Facility: Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital
Hospital System: Carilion Clinic
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: ASAP preferred


Work Schedule

  • 4x10 hour shifts, Evening shift (1:00 PM - 11:00 PM)
  • Monday through Friday
  • Rotating day off based on staffing needs
  • No on-call required

Requirements

  • ARRT certification required
  • Siemens MRI experience preferred
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront with application

Certifications & Competencies (As Applicable)

  • ACLS (AHA only)
  • BLS (AHA only)
  • PALS (AHA only)
  • NRP (AHA only)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • HIPAA Safety Manual Acknowledgement
  • State License Primary Source Verification (within 30 days of start)
  • NURSYS Verification (for RNs)
  • Tech Certification Verification (national) relevant to specialty
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) for Behavioral Health & ER Behavioral Health Annex
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
  • Competency Exams relevant to profession/specialty
  • Core Parts I, II, III (annual updates required for travelers)

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Facility-specific documents and compliance checklists must be completed prior to start
  • Professional photo for badge (plain background, no selfies or filters)
  • Carilion Access and Confidentiality Agreement (must be completed within 48 hours of signing)
  • New Hire Paperwork completion required before start
  • Fit Testing Form (mandatory regardless of prior fit test)
  • Contract Staff Orientation Manual review and acknowledgment (not required for inpatient RNs)
  • Signature on Carilion Pain Assessment Expectation (for inpatient RNs at this facility)

Health & Safety Documentation

  • Physical exam within 1 year, confirming freedom from communicable diseases
  • Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (not required for students/practicum trainees)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
  • TB Questionnaire (required for all candidates)
  • Immunizations or positive titers for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
    • Varicella
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation required for 2024-25 flu season (with exemptions allowed)

Background & History Checks

  • 7-year background check within 1 year of start (covering all locations lived/worked)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Two clinical references or hospital evaluations required
  • Complete employment application/resume required
  • Annual skills checklist update required
  • Education verification of highest earned degree required (transcript/diploma may be accepted as placeholder)
  • Radiation badge supplied by facility for new candidates (not provided by Aya Healthcare)

Important Notes

  • Driver’s License/State ID with an address within 100 miles of the facility is required within 48 hours of signing
  • E-Verify or attestation required
  • Residency Declaration Form required if working on a compact license

This position offers a structured schedule with no call responsibilities and requires compliance with Carilion Clinic’s credentialing, health, and facility-specific onboarding processes.
