Description
Duties:
Echo Tech
Work under the supervision of the Cardiology Assistant Director (AD). Performs cardiac ultrasound procedures on patients and completes associated support activities as directed by the Cardiology Assistant Director (AD) and/or attending Cardiologist. Performs other duties as assigned.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
1. Performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures.
2. Provides age appropriate care to the patients served by the Cardiology Department.
3. Records procedure results in Echo Lab charts, log, etc.
4. Immediately informs the Cardiology Assistant Director (AD) and/or attending Cardiologist of life threatening or Questionable test results, etc.
5. Assumes active role in the Cardiology Department’s Continuous Quality Improvement Program.
6. Enters into computer terminals a variety of patient information.
7. Ensures appropriate documentation is maintained and updated.
8. Performs preventative maintenance of cardiology equipment and accessories.
9. Performs related duties and special assignments/projects.
10. Pulls contrast media as appropriate for procedure.
11. Uses appropriate communication and team-work skills with working with patients, co-workers, and other hospital staff.
12. Maintains proficiency with all new related hospital technologies including Information System upgrades, Echo Picture Archiving Computer Systems (PACS), and Cardiovascular Information Systems (CVIS).
13. Serves as a workflow resource to physicians for new advancements in qualitative, quantitative, and information technologies such as 3D/4D cardiac ultrasound and related applications as well as a resource for the daily utilization of PACs and CVIS systems.
14. Participates in the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Labs (ICAEL) process for the lab.
15. Performs other duties as assigned.

- ARDMS/RDCS or CCI registry in Adult Echocardiography. - Required
- Current BLS/Healthcare. Provider status as per American Heart Association standards. - Required

Education:
1. Education: Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
2. Licensure: Registry in Adult Echocardiography and Vascular Ultrasound in any combination from the
following certifying boards: American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) RVT or
RDCS registry or from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) RCS or RVS registry required.
Current BLS/Healthcare Provider status as per American Heart Association standards required.
3. Experience: At least one year of experience in Adult/Pediatric Echocardiography and Vascular Sonography
4. Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Knowledge of ultrasound equipment. Requires the use of fine motor
skills and precise hand/eye coordination.
5. Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with patients, public and co-workers. Work requires ability to communicate effectively about complex matters with others who have varying levels of i comprehension and knowledge (written and oral).
7. Essential Mental Abilities: Requires analytical abilities to determine priorities and judge information.
Ability to handle effectively with the stress of multiple priorities and patient anxieties. .
8. Essential Sensory Requirements: Must be able to hear, see, verbally communicate, and have tactile sense.
9. Performance Improvement: Assumes active role in the department's Continuous Performance
Improvement Program. Develops, implements and assesses Continuous Performance Improvement efforts
as assigned. Assist with MQSA as requested or required.
