ICU Float Pool Nurse - Augusta, Georgia

Job Overview

  • Monitor, examine, and evaluate patient conditions in ICU settings.
  • Assist with and deliver care plans to promote patient outcomes and wellbeing.
  • Use independent judgment in patient care and participate in evidence-based practice.
  • Collaborate and communicate care plans with healthcare team members.
  • Prioritize and coordinate daily patient flow and experience.
  • Maintain documentation of assessments, care delivered, education, and any incidents.
  • Maintain competency for ICU-level patient care.

Unit Equipment & Systems

  • EPIC computerized charting with medication scanning
  • Omnicell medication dispenser
  • Phillips monitoring and EKG machines
  • Ventilators
  • iStat analyzers
  • Accu-check glucometer and waived testing
  • Chest tubes, drains, and restraints

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of critical care (ICU) experience
  • Ability to multi-task and manage ICU patients as well as those awaiting transfer to Intermediate or Acute care levels

Licensure & Certifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure for Georgia or multi-state compact license
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification through AHA
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification through AHA

Schedule & Shift Details

  • Shifts:
    • Four 0700-1930 (day shifts)
    • Six 1900-0730 (night shifts)
  • Work every other weekend
  • Floating required to all ICU units including CVICU, Neuro, SICU, STU, MICU

Patient Care & Staffing

  • Nurse-to-patient ratio varies by patient acuity: 1:1 to 1:3

Orientation & Training

  • Three-day preceptor-based ICU orientation with competency checklist
  • Training on covering multiple ICU units and managing various patient acuity levels
  • Adherence to all hospital policies and procedures

Dress Code

  • Navy blue scrubs

Additional Notes

  • Must be willing to float as needed to ICU and Intermediate Care (IMC) areas
  • Recent level one or two trauma experience preferred
  • Previous travel nursing experience considered a plus
