Required Skills & Certifications

  • Must have Siemens MRI experience
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – Required for NICU
  • Chemotherapy certification (if applicable for Oncology unit)
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) – Required for ER and preferred for Pediatric ER
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) – Required for Labor & Delivery RNs
  • National Tech Certification Verification
  • State License Verification (Connecticut Radiographer license required or pending)
  • NURSYS Verification (for RN, LPN/LVN, AP)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (for RNs only)
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) during orientation
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) – Required for Psychiatry/Behavioral Health
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (85% passing score required)
  • Color Blind Testing (80% passing score required, effective 8/2/2024)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for Telemetry, MS/Tele, ER, ICU units)

  • Baxter Pump Interoperability Training (RNs and Allied Health)
  • Patient Bedside Rounding (RNs and CNAs)
  • Mobile Heartbeat Alarm (RNs except ER/ED, Pediatrics, ICU, NICU)
  • Ventricular Assist Device Awareness (RNs)
  • AME Blood Administration Module (RNs except Case Managers, Behavioral Health/Psych, Home Health)
  • New Employee Orientation Module
  • 21st Century Cures Act Module (MRI Techs and other specified roles)
  • ED Handbook (ED/ER RNs only)
  • eCart Training Module (RNs except Pediatric, Periop/OR, Outpatient, Case Managers, Home Health)
  • Chaperone Policy Training (RNs and Allied Health)
  • EPIC Testing (RNs with EPIC experience encouraged to test out)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical Exam (within 12 months)
  • Fit Mask Test (annual, 3M N95 preferred)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap required within 10 years for Peds, LDRP, Postpartum)
  • Negative TB Test or Chest X-Ray (within 12 months)
  • TB Questionnaire (annual)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella – Positive titer or vaccinations required
  • Hepatitis B – Positive titer, vaccine series, or declination accepted
  • Varicella – Positive titer, vaccinations, or physician documented history
  • 10 Panel Drug Screen (within 12 months)
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination (required during flu season)
  • COVID-19 Vaccination Series and Booster (with medical/religious exemptions process)

Background & Compliance Checks

  • 7 Year Criminal Background Check (annual update required)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM Checks (within 30 days of start)
  • HHS/OIG Checks (within 30 days of start)
  • Employment Application with 7-year work history (no gaps >90 days)
  • Skills Checklist (within 12 months)
  • Foreign Equivalency Education Evaluation (for Internationally Educated RNs)
  • Transcript/Diploma Verification
  • Work History Verification (last 7 years)
  • Education Verification (highest level)
  • National Sex Offender Search (annual update)
