Travel/Contract Radiology / Cardiology Position

Location: Piedmont Atlanta Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia
Hospital System: Piedmont Healthcare

Unit Details

  • Schedule: Monday-Friday with variable day off
  • Weekend: Call only every 6th weekend
  • Call: One weekday evening (5:30 PM - 7:30 AM) and every 6th weekend
  • Floating: Within facility/scope of practice as needed
  • Minimum Experience: 1 year; first-time travelers accepted
  • Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
  • Holidays:
    • If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, traveler expected to work it
    • If 2 major holidays fall, traveler expected to work both
    • If 3 major holidays fall, traveler expected to work 2 of them
  • Major Holidays Include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day
  • Compliance: Full compliance required to start on time; delays result in 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Locals Accepted

Certifications & Licenses Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for RN’s/RRT’s/CRT’s in specified specialties
  • BLS (Basic Life Support): Required except for Microbiology and Med Techs
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for RN’s in PACU, Pre-op, Endo, CSU (if pediatric patients accepted), ER
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): Online course required within a few months of hire (no re-certification)
  • State License: Must be valid in Georgia; CRTs & RRTs must be licensed by Georgia
  • NURSYS Verification: Annual verification for RN, LPN/LVN, AP within 30 days prior to start
  • Tech Certification Verification: National certification verification within 30 days prior to start (if applicable)
  • NIH Stroke Certification: Refer to unit description for requirement
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required for RNs and LVNs by Aya only
  • Color Blind Testing: Required for all candidates; alternative assessment available for blood collection tasks
  • Competency Exam: Required for Nursing and Allied by Aya only
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Required for Tele, MS/Tele, IMCU, ER, Cardiac tele/step-down, ICU, PCU; max 3 attempts allowed

Health & Vaccination Requirements

  • Physical Exam: Must be within 1 year of start
  • TB Testing: PPD, QGold, or TSpot within 12 months of start; additional second TB test within 60 days of start for privileging specialties
  • TB Questionnaire: Required annually regardless of TB test results
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer required; boosters allowed post-start if eligible
  • Hepatitis B: Series, surface antibody titer, or signed declination required; privileging specialties have additional requirements
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required; boosters allowed post-start if eligible
  • Flu Vaccine: Required or declination; strongly encouraged during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
  • COVID-19 Vaccine: Required or declination; strongly encouraged by Oct 31
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; instant drug screen acceptable under certain conditions

Background & Compliance

  • Background Check: Required within 30 days of start; must include criminal, sex offender, education verification, and more
  • References: Two clinical references required by Aya
  • Skills Checklist: Updated annually within 12 months
  • Work History Verification: Required; can be pending at start with proof of processing
  • Education Verification: Required; can be pending at start with proof of processing
  • Diplomas: Required for RRTs

Facility Specific Policies

  • Code of Conduct and Acknowledgement: Must be reviewed and signed prior to start
  • Dress and Professional Appearance Policy: Must be reviewed
  • Privileging Requirements: Additional compliance and documentation required for CVOR Certified Surgical First Assistant and RNFA specialties, including vaccine declination forms and respirator fit testing

This position offers a structured schedule with call responsibilities and holiday work expectations, requires a variety of certifications and health clearances, and demands full compliance with Piedmont Healthcare policies and credentialing standards. First-time travelers are welcome, and local candidates are accepted.
