Unit Details
- Unit: Acute Rehabilitation Unit (ARU)
- Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
- Call: None
- Floating: Within facility and scope of practice as needed
- Minimum Experience: 2 years (no first-time travelers accepted)
Work Expectations
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
- Holidays:
- If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, traveler must work it
- If 2 major holidays fall, traveler must work both
- If 3 major holidays fall, traveler must work 2 of them
- Major Holidays Include:
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving/Black Friday
- Christmas Eve/Christmas Day
- New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
Compliance & Onboarding
- Full compliance required to start on time
- Non-compliance results in a 2-week delay due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
- Locals accepted at the same rate
Required Certifications & Competencies
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for many specialties including ER, PACU, Critical Care, etc.
- BLS (Basic Life Support): Required for most clinical roles except Microbiology and Med Techs
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for PACU, ER, and certain pediatric areas
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): Online course required within a few months of hire (no re-certification)
- State License Verification: Must be current and verified within 30 days prior to start (Georgia license required for CRTs & RRTs)
- NURSYS Verification: Annual verification for RN, LPN/LVN, AP licenses
- NIH Stroke Certification: May be required depending on specialty
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required for RNs and LVNs by Aya only
- Color Blind Testing: Required; alternative assessment available for blood collection tasks
- Competency Exam: Required for Nursing and Allied by Aya only
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Required for Telemetry, ICU, ER, and related units; max 3 attempts allowed
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam: Must be within 1 year of start
- TB Testing: PPD, QGold, or TSpot within 12 months; additional testing required for privileging specialties
- TB Questionnaire: Annual requirement regardless of TB test results
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer required; boosters allowed post-start if eligible
- Hepatitis B: Series, surface antibody titer, or signed declination required; stricter rules for privileging specialties
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required; boosters allowed post-start if eligible
- Flu Vaccine: Required or signed declination; strongly encouraged during flu season (Nov-Mar)
- COVID-19 Vaccine: Required or signed declination; strongly encouraged by October 31
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; instant drug screen allowed under certain conditions
Background & History Requirements
- Background check within 30 days of start including criminal, sex offender, education verification, and employment history
- Two clinical references required by Aya
- Skills checklist updated within 12 months
- Education verification and work history verification required; can be pending at start with proof of processing
Facility-Specific Policies
- Candidates must review and sign Piedmont’s Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy
- Additional compliance checklists and vaccine declination forms required for privileging specialties (e.g., CVOR Certified Surgical First Assistant, RNFA)
Additional Notes
- Candidates will be prescreened by clinical staff for fit and compliance with Piedmont guidelines before manager review
- Candidates must be prepared to float within the facility as needed
- Photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required
This position is ideal for experienced RNs with at least 2 years of clinical experience who are comfortable working in a fast-paced acute rehabilitation setting and meeting comprehensive compliance and health requirements.
