Job Description
The registered nurse in this role will:
- Monitor, examine, and evaluate patient conditions.
- Assist with care plans and take actions to promote patient outcomes and wellbeing.
- Deliver care according to established plans, applying independent judgment as necessary.
- Participate in data collection and collaborate with other staff on patient care plans.
- Prioritize and coordinate daily patient flow and experience.
- Maintain documentation of patient assessments, changes in condition, care delivered, and education provided.
Equipment Utilized
- EPIC computer charting with medication scanning
- Omnicell medication dispenser
- Phillips monitoring and EKGs
- Ventilators, iStats, Accu-check glucometer
- Waived testing, chest tubes, drains, and restraints
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum Experience: At least 2 years of Critical Care experience
- Licensure/Certifications:
- RN licensure for the State of Georgia or multi-state compact license
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
Shift and Schedule Requirements
- Shifts:
- Four (4) 0700-1930 (AM)
- Six (6) 1900-0730 (PM)
- Weekends: Required every other weekend
- Floating: Expected to float to all ICU units including CVICU, Neuro, SICU, STU, MICU
Nurse to Patient Ratio
- Contingent on patient type: 1:2-3 or 1:1
Dress Code
- Navy Blue scrubs
Orientation and Training
- Completion of a three-day preceptor-based orientation to the ICUs.
- Adherence to all policies and procedures.
- Understanding of expectations for covering ICUs and ability to multi-task.
Additional Information
- 2+ years of ICU experience required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA only)
- Must be willing to float as needed to ICU/IMC areas
- Recent level one or level two trauma experience preferred
- Previous travel experience is a plus
